    Additional Information: Tongue-Tie Assessment

Tongue-tie in babies can affect feeding and has the potential to cause issues with speech later in life. It is easily treated, but also frequently misdiagnosed with many other feeding issues often blamed on tongue-tie. As a specialist Tongue-Tie Assessor, Rachel offers a thorough and detailed examination; assessing not only the tongue’s appearance but most importantly, its function and movement.

Maybe you have been told your baby has tongue-tie but you feel unsure of this diagnosis, or perhaps you are struggling with feeding and are wondering if it could be the cause. These sessions will offer an in-depth look at your baby’s tongue function as well as your current infant feeding approach. Often those who offer tongue-tie release (division) surgery are not also qualified in infant feeding, and so the aim of these sessions is to equip you with knowledge and understanding in order to help support you in your decision going forward.

  • Birth story Healing

Giving birth or witnessing birth is one of the biggest events we experience in our lives; raw, powerful, and intense. Being able to share this story with others is important in order to begin to process your experience. Most important is sharing this with someone who can listen attentively, with compassion, without judgment, and in a safe and confidential space.

So often the phrase “as long as the baby is healthy” is used to reassure parents, particularly following a difficult or traumatic birth experience. However, this can dismiss the very valid and often challenging feelings that parents encounter during and following childbirth.

Maybe your birth did not go as you had planned or envisioned. Perhaps someone spoke to you in a way that has been difficult to move on from. Maybe your birth experience was traumatic or scary.

Birth story healing sessions enable you to explore and talk about these experiences in a safe and confidential space.

It is important to note that these sessions are also incredibly helpful for parents who have had a positive birth experience but do not have someone they feel comfortable or able to share their birth story with. Sharing your experience following birth allows you to process, understand, and validate your journey.
